Making Calls 

This page will go over how to go over making calls using the three phone banking options, Standard Dialing, Powerdialing, and VoIP.

    Standard Dialing

    **Standard dialing is included in the both the Classic and Pro packages. 

    What your callers will need:

    • Their own telephone 
    • A user account so that they can log into the project

    1. If coming from the new menu, select "Make Calls" under Phone. If coming from the old menu, select "Phone Bank" under action lists. 
    2. Next you will see the projects you have permission to call. If you have not yet set up a project, see our Phone Bank Admin video. For Standard Dialing, under "Make calls using" select "Telephone."
    3. Select "Proceed with standard dialing"
    4. On this screen on the right you will see the script that the caller will be reading with the questions and possible answers. When you have familiarized yourself with the script, select "Proceed to first call."
    5. The voter's telephone number will appear in the top left corner, and the caller will manually enter in the number on the telephone that he/she are making the calls from. If you are accessing the screen from a device that can make phone calls, you may be able to click/tap on the number to begint the dialing process.
    6. Depending on the results of the call, select one of the call outcome options on the left. 
    7. If the call is connected, ask to speak to one of the targeted voters shown on the right side of the page.  Click on the survey icon next to the name of the individual to whom you are speaking and mark the appropriate responses. Next to the name of the individuals in the house is a small button with a red "X" over the phone, click this if this is the wrong number for that voter, but the correct number for the other voters in the home.
    8. If a voicemail box is reached, leave a voicemail and hang up.
    9. After the call is complete, select "Next" in the top left to proceed to the next call. 
    10. Repeat the process until you are finished or run out of numbers to call, and then click "Stop calling" in the top right corner. 


    Power Dialing 

    **Power Dialing costs 2.9 cents per minute that the caller is connected to the dialing system. Prepaid credits must be added to the account before callers can begin making calls. All accounts have a Prepaid balance of $1.00 so that you can try out the feature.


    What your callers will need:

    • A telephone to dial into webElect 
    • A user account with prepaid credits

    1. If coming from the new menu, select "Make Calls" under Phone. If coming from the old menu, select "Phone Bank" under action lists.
    2. Next you will see the project you are calling from. If you have not yet set up a project, see our Phone Bank Admin video. For Power Dialing, under "Make calls using" select "Telephone."
    3. Select "Proceed with Power Dialing. 
    4. On the right, you will see the script with the questions and possible answers. Familiarize yourself with the script before you begin making calls. 
    5. On the left side of the screen, enter in the 10 digit phone number that you will be dialing in from. After you enter in the number, dial into webElect at the number listed below and enter in the passcode. Once the phone has been verified, click begin. You will now hear hold music signifying you are connected to the system.
    6. The voter's telephone number will appear in the top left corner.  When you are ready, select "Call". This will attempt to connect to the number and you will see the status of the connection attempt under the telephone number.  You will not hear the ring tone while the call is attempted but will immediately hear the answering party when they pick up.
    7. Depending on the results of the call, select one of the call outcome options on the left.
      If the call is connected, ask to speak to one of the targeted voters shown on the right side of the page.     8. If there is no answer and you reach a voicemail box, wait until you hear the beep, and select "Leave Voicemail." This will leave the prerecorded message on the machine and change the outcome of the call to "Left message" while simultaneously disconnecting the call from your phone so you may immediately proceed to the next number.
    9. Click "Next" to proceed to the next call. 
    10. From the second call onward, you will not hear a dial or ring tones. You can tell a call is ringing by looking at the status under the voter phone number. 
    11. Repeat the process until you are finished or run out of numbers to call, and then click "Stop calling" in the top right corner.


    VoIP

    **VoIP costs 2.9 cents per minute that the caller is connected to the dialing system. Prepaid credits must be added to the account before the caller begins making calls. All accounts have a Prepaid balance of $1.00 so that you can try out the feature. 


    What your callers will need: 

    • A device with Chrome, Firefox, or Safari (non-iOS) browsers. VoIP does not work on iOS devices (iPad and iPhone).
    • A user account with prepaid credits. 
    • A headset (for good audio quality)
    • A quality data/Internet connection (for good audio quality)

Next to the name of the individuals in the house is a small button with a red "X" over the phone, click this if this is the wrong number for that voter, but the correct number for the other voters in the home.
